Development

 

This Sunday the 17th of July found the Collingwood Development team come up against the Richmond development side. It was a tough beginning for the pies with Richmond getting a fast break early with several consecutive goals to bring the tigers with a big lead going into half time. Andrew Paddle managed to get on the score sheet early in the second half for the pies, as they looked to make a gap on the tiger’s lead. Unfortunately, the Tigers Development team were too dominant on the day and proved why they’re undefeated in the Development league.

 Final Scores: Collingwood – 2.5-17 – Richmond – 17.11 – 113

Seniors

The Collingwood Seniors looked to make it their first win against Richmond in 2022.  It was a competitive start for both teams as they both looked to gain control of the game early. Richmond got the early lead by quarter time, as the Pies has a few issues settling with the ball in the first quarter. The Pies managed to get compete better in the second quarter with Collingwood Captain Ben Jankovski slotting through his first goal of the afternoon. The second half efforts were a lot better from Collingwood. They were able to slow down the Richmond goal scores and gain possession of the ball. Collingwood Debutant Martyn Ford was very impressive in his first game for Collingwood. He provided height all up the court and demonstrated elite ruckwork to his teammates. Although it was a 54-point loss in the end. The Pies competed well despite having key players out due to injuries.
