Collingwood successfully defeated Essendon 57-52 on Sunday afternoon in a closely fought battle.
It was a particularly emotional day, after the team was told that club champion, captain and former coach Brendan Stroud had lost his battle with cancer.
Best on ground was awarded to defender Brian Owens. Brian played a crucial role down back, ensuring the Bombers weren’t able to score easily. Our midfield was dominant, allowing full forward Ben Jankovski great opportunity to score.
It was Ben who kicked a clutch goal with just moments left to secure the win for the Pies.
An unforgettable day for all involved, it was fantastic to see the club come together to support our wheelchair team get a well deserved victory for Brendan.
