Wheelchair Magpies hold firm in thriller

15 Jun 2026

The Wheelchair Magpies delivered a disciplined performance across both divisions in Round 4, as two new recruits shine in key moments.

Championship Division

The Pies were made to earn every inch in a tightly contested match, but the defining moment came late in the final quarter when the Saints surged with a run of unanswered goals, cutting the margin to just 10 points.

Despite this, the Pies showed maturity and slowed the tempo of the game to control possession. Their ability to stay composed under pressure proved the difference, allowing them to hold on and secure the four points.

Adam Georgelin and Vincent Falcone were the standout performers, each producing influential displays across multiple lines.

Georgelin joined the Collingwood Magpies wheelchair program late in the 2026 preseason and has slotted in seamlessly in his first official outing.

His understanding of the game was evident from the opening bounce, playing a pivotal role through both the centre and in defence.

Falcone was once again classy all over the court, impacting both forward and defensive chains throughout the match. His complete performance earned him the Spuds’ Game ‘Best on Ground’ Football.

Throughout the game, Falcone’s involvement in multiple scoring passages kept the Saints under constant pressure, and when the match was on the line, Falcone was instrumental in closing out the contest.

The win sees Collingwood sit equal second on the ladder alongside Richmond. With momentum building, the Pies will look to separate themselves from the pack when they face the Tigers in Round 5.

Community Division

It was a strong and spirited performance from our Community side.

The highlight of the game was the return of much-loved Pie Kaine Sinclair, who has put in a significant block of work on the training track to rebuild fitness and push for selection.

Sinclair provided smart leading patterns in the forward half and consistently put the team first whenever he hit the court - an effort that set the tone for Collingwood’s connected and disciplined performance.

Overall, the team proved dominant up forward, producing five different multiple goal scorers in the match.

Aaron Cutajar, Jack Elliott, and Arnold Razon were all influential in their respective roles.

Elliott was lively up forward, and helped in the centre at times. His work rate up and down the court created repeated scoring opportunities for teammates and was rewarded with the ‘Spuds’ Game ‘Best on Ground’ Football.

Cutajar was a rock in defence, refusing to give his opponent any easy shots at goal. His strong marking and positioning helped shut down St Kilda’s forward entries to keep them at bay.

Alongside was defender Arnold, who also produced another reliable performance using his composure to ensure the Pies remained in control.

The victory over the Saints puts the Wheelchair Magpies’ Community Division side into second place on the ladder.
