SDN Indigenous Guernsey competition comes to a close

20 Sep 2021

In 2022 and 2023, Collingwood’s Indigenous Guernsey will be designed by the winner of this year’s Sir Doug Nicholls Round Guernsey Competition.

An amazing amount of entries were submitted to the club, with 47 unique and inspiring designs all in the running for both 2022 and 2023.

The design will be worn across the Magpies’ AFL, AFLW, VFL, VFLW, Netball and Wheelchair teams, with the aim to highlight great Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artwork.

SDNR is also considered a highlight in the sporting calendar and creates awareness and education about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture.

The 2022 and 2023 winning artists will receive $3,500 in prize money, plus a framed team-signed Sir Doug Nicholls Round guernsey.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Programs Manager, Debby Lovett will lead a selection panel made up of athletes and staff members to decide on the best designs for both years.

The winner of the 2022 design will be advised on the 31st of October, with a public announcement set for a future date.
