Collingwood joined the LGBTQIA+ community in celebrating Melbourne Pride at the Midsumma Festival this weekend.
Midsumma is Australia's premier queer arts and cultural organisation, bringing together a diverse mix of LGBTQIA+ artists, performers, communities and audiences.
Melbourne Pride celebrates Members of the LGBTQIA+ community who come from across Melbourne, Victoria, and Australia to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the decriminalization of homosexuality in Victoria.
To commemorate this milestone, Melbourne Pride – A Road to Pride, transformed Gertrude Street, Smith Street and Peel Street Park into a vibrant precinct, celebrating the courage and resilience of Victoria’s LGBTQIA+ community.
Collingwood works closely with Stand Up Events in making strides towards eradicating homophobic langage and behaviour from sport.
People in the LGBTQIA+ community were able to provide feedback to the club about how Collingwood can look to improve in this space.
Over 2000 people participated in the Collingwood Marquee.
